Let me just sum this up in advance:
Apple sues someone: "They are protecting their IP/trademarks."
Someone sues Apple: "They are bleeding money and need an Apple handout" or "Patent troll"
Usually this is followed by someone with a 'shareholder' remark since they somehow believe that owning 7 shares of Apple should get them a direct line to the CEO.
If Nokia has had these patents for 10 years before the iPhone, then why didn't they act when the iPhone was first released?

Like many, I understand that this act isn't hurting the economy. It probably even helps the economy in a weird and perverted way. I also understand that we humans waste an enormous amount of perfectly good food, drinking water and other non-replaceable natural resources every day. And no, I don't shed any tears when some old and worn television is taken to the local recycling depot.
So why does this stupid 'will it blend' series anger me so much? I think it's to do with the cynicism and the willful destruction of a brand new and perfectly good device that was never used in any meaningful way. And it's to do with the completely meaningless purpose of that destruction: getting attention.
For all the idiots who defend this series purely because it succeeds at getting attention and therefore helps BlendTec make money, let's see where your moral boundaries lie. Because these commercials would attract even greater audiences if they blended puppies. Or kittens. Or donor organs. What's that? No living things? Okay, sissies. Let's blend rare drugs. Expensive replacement heart valves. Like any iPad, they're just objects. Right? Or try the ultimate cynicism: blend a million dollars. (Actually, that's been done.)
By the aloof and detached financial argument, if it makes them any money it's okay right? And it's cool. From reading this thread, laughing about these stupid pranks and muttering rationalizations is what makes you a man.

Unfortunately, Apple is discontinuing support for MobileMe calendar syncing via Sync Services as of May 5th, preventing users from utilizing direct Outlook-MobileMe syncing.
This doesn't affect MobileMe syncing between Macs and iOS devices correct?

This entire scenario is playing out like Windows / MacOS part 2 -- the vertically integrated MacOS (hardware + OS coming from same source) is beaten into obscurity by the OS that is available on a multitude of devices from many different manufacturers.
Every percentage point that Android ticks higher -- every million more Android customers that sign on due to BOGOs and heavily subsidized phones -- makes their customer base the more enticing one to develop for.
This type of competition won't keep Apple "honest and innovative" -- it'll just lead to what we saw before in the 80s and 90s: top software going to the competing platform with Apple grabbing at scraps.

Steve Jobs whines people step on his turf, but is too thick to see the irony when the shoe is on the other foot. Mapping the entire world is complicated and best done by Google because they can effectively monetize it. For an effective traffic app, you need high volume. Android's cheap crap does this better because it has more marketshare. Apple needs to quit being bitches and put the Google navigation app on iPhone and both phones for a superior traffic app.
The last thing I want is the need to constantly connect to the internet and download the maps every time when I want to get some navigation. The Google maps solution is not ideal if they still don't allow caching maps or local navigation database.

The others, Dells and Compaqs, served me well, but eventually disintegrated into plastic shards. I was very productive with those machines, and none of them had a higher resolution than 1024x768.

1) Open a movie section on itunes with at least 2K movies in content, ready to download and rent for $2.99 - $4.99 (have a fixed price, but no more then $4.99) to be viewed for unlimited times in 1 week. Instead of waiting for it to download completely, have it stream to the TV (through mac mini or new video airport express) with a good enough buffer that doesn't interrupt the movie. While you are watching it or not, continue to download to the HD so you can transfer it to an iPod to watch later or take to a friends house, on a plane, in the car, etc.
So what standard would a computer transmit to a new AE. Bonjour, nor current WiFi have the bandwidth to stream a movie over. And since you would most likely download this movie to a desktop for view within your house vs a laptop/ipod for away from home viewing, it would be plugged into an outlet. And an Airport express plugs dircetly into a wall, would it be possible to use Broadband over power lines within the home, in combo with some WiFi flavor to transmit and reconstruct the signal? Just a thought. Sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere.

I'd like to be able to hide the menu bar in the next version of OSX, like the way you can hide the dock. More real estate for the screen.

I'd like to see a lot more weight put into iPhoto.
With the steep price declines in DSLRs, proliferation of smart phones with better cameras, etc. people are taking more photos than ever before. The result is that the photo management and editing tools that only pros used to need are needed and by more and more hobbyists and casual photographers. If they could pull in some tools from Aperture and more robust photoshop-like tools (layers, dodge and burn, spot healing brush, etc.?) it would make a lot of people happy.
As for the current feature set, it would be nice to see more powerful facial recognition (profiles, better job with babies and children).
I'd also like to see some tighter integration with Mail since family email photos all the time. Rather than just be able to right click and add the shot to iPhoto, how about the ability to create an event, label faces all in Mail and then add to iPhoto.
One of my biggest gripes though iPhoto's lack of integration with AppleTV. If I take movies on my camera or even my iPhone, it syncs to iPhoto but only the photos will sync with AppleTV. The product is undoubtedly real, but announcing it in December, or even at MWSF in January, would be the height of stupidity. They'd miss the Christmas buying season and piss off both the buyers and recipients of new iPods. That's probably 20 million people in the US alone who would be angry with Apple.I think most people buying ipods would be those GIVING gifts. At that point, the person getting the gift is happy and the one giving is likely a grandma or parent who's not going to be really following when the next generation of ipod is coming out.

Yeah, hopefully maybe they'll be quieter? I don't think it'd ever be as quiet as a PS3...That 12x drive will never be as quiet as a 2x Blu-ray drive...
