"There's nothing wrong with remembering it, but why do we have to constantly remember?" she said. "We're not at fault. I mean, if they're going to put a Holocaust museum in every city in Germany, that's fine with me. But we didn't do this to the Jews. Why do we have to keep paying the price and why do they keep oppressing the Palestinians? Do the Jews ever look at themselves? Why are they always right? Because they have been oppressed throughout history, I know. And they have this persecution. That's true, but they shouldn't use that to dominate."

Now that she's got nothing to lose she's letting it all hang out.

I assume you're reading the chart wrong. The new i5 is faster than the old i7, even though the i7 has hyperthreading but the i5 doesn't. That's pretty huge. It doesn't look like the new i7 has been benchmarked yet.

Based on what? Are there benchmarks out for the new i7 yet?

I do agree with you that it doesn't make sense for most people to upgrade from the previous generation, but I tend to feel that way about sequential updates in general. But this does look like it has the potential to be a nice improvement, and I think the TB ports allow the new machines to compete with the MPs in some ways they never have before.

The processor in the latest 27 inch iMac is the same sandy bridge 2400 core i5/ 2600 locked i7 that's been out for awhile now. There are tons of benchmarks all over the net.

    Edit:
Heres a link comparing gaming performance:
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/20

It is faster, but nothing explosive that deems the first generation of core i5 / i7 out-of-date / they can't compete. Its just a marginal increase in speed. So it comes down to are you happy with 100 fps, or do you really want 120 fps? Is it worth a $2,800 upgrade to replace the former top of the line iMac for the new top of the line iMac.

Really, I only see it worth it for those on the former Core2Quads/Duo's.

I bought a blend tech because of all these videos. Awesome marketing, and AWESOME blender.

    Completely agree
I cycled around the world for 5 years(60.000Km-40.000 Miles)and have been in lots of poor countries, live most of My time in Indonesia now and its just incomprehensible to them why this would be so funny.
I've seen people starving on the streets in the gutter, children starving and very old people which should be cared by their children but they are not capable to do so.
Just horrible and We(You)just close your !#%&*$ eyes, ears and month for this.

    Note.
No wonder Americans are so hated around the world, and not only them,Europeans start to be the same.
And I hate My country for that.

So which is less productive? Cycling the world for 5 years or blending an iPhone?

Are they serious? I can track someone from as far as 600 feet away, just using my eyes.

It would be impossible to spy one someone if you had to remain within 60 feet of them at all times...

bah, I can track you all simultaneously and I don't need any silly RF devices to do it.

Right now you're sitting in front of your computer. Scary, eh?

Dolby Digital Surround. If you just have a R/L channel.... its only 1 D. But since Dolby has 5.... 2 back... 3 forward... with the center forward and i different height.... u can get almost 3D sound. I think its a really cool features that dissapointingly won't get taken advantage of enough. Some programs should definetly utilize that. It would be great for a simple maze game where like as ur mouse moves u hear where its going. It'd really be cool beans.

Wow, that does sound like an amazing feature. :)

does anyone wonder if there (is/is not) a contingency plan for what happens when google decides to (PLEASE GOD NO!) close it's doors? I''m just curious. as steve said, once you add a feature, you can't take it away.

and now that we have that extra layer of googlebuddiness on the board, I bet we'll see pleanty more exclusive google features.

    aside from that
anyone wonder if google will google is planning to eat apple?

I think Apple would buy the assets if they started to tank.

probably cut into the regular imacs sales too much. That's exactly what some are speculating. Which means Apple pulls products like this if they are too unpopular (not enough education sales to justify the product) or if they are too popular (enough education sales to cut into their non-education sales).

Well know why this was done. Just go read the post about when it was released. I could see this coming a mile away. Either a they would do this or b they would start doing the audits they talk about with educational purchases. There must have been atleast 50 people who blatantly posted about abusing the discount on a "public forum" and hundreds maybe thousands more who thougt of it...I doubt that's the reason, because the same is true of every other education deal. Apple chooses how tough to be about verifying student status, knowing that some people always try to beat the system.

Text is also mostly unreadable (in the video) so you can't see subtitles or news crawls. The audio, however, sounds surprisingly good.
...Seems it would be better to send subtitles as a separate component of the data stream, so that the viewer can select font size etc. Maybe one day this will be possible.
My comment only applied to video streamed over 3G, streaming over WiFi should be able to show pretty small text.

However for 3G, if you encode the video manually as I've previously explained you CAN read fairly small text, like the news crawl on CNN (somewhat difficult to read, but possible).

I'm going to request that Elgato add a custom iPhone setting so that you can encode at something other than their very low quality cellular or the too high bitrates they use in their 480x360 iPhone setting. If they did that then you could record shows and have them automatically converted into something that would stream nicely over the 3G network at about 300Kbps.

    You got owned, citizenzen ...

Do you think so? Let's review ...

It was iJohnHenry who first proposed that that "many Muslim countries force their mores on visitors"

And many Muslim countries force their mores on visitors.

Show me the laws that force a dress code on foreign visitors.

I have a tendency to not accept broad statements like without some kind of source. So I asked for some form of confirmation. I didn't say it wasn't true, just that I needed some evidence. If "many Muslim countries force" visitors to conform, then it shouldn't be hard to find proof to it.

Anything less is just lazy posting.

Seven hours later Mac'nCheese entered in the discussion with ...

You mean when female troops from other countries are "encouraged" to cover up while serving in Muslim countries?

Again, no source, just assertions made without evidence.

Even so I didn't claim he was wrong, I simply pointed out the difference between "encouragement" and "outlawing" ...

Even if your assertion is true, did you notice that the keyword in your post is "encouraged" and not "outlawed".

If France merely "encouraged" Muslim women to forgo the veil and burqa, I think there's very little I would say against such "encouragement".

Obviously frustrated by the failure of his first point, Mac'nCheese finally did a little research and came up with the evidence to iJohnHenry's assertion made nearly nine hours earlier ...

    Some reading for citizenzen:

    http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1012.html

From the us government travel page, advising visitors to Saudi Arabia that the country is under Islamic law and foreigners have been arrested for not dressing properly.

What's your wise-ass answer to that? I hope it includes a smiley!!!

So bravo! Somebody finally came up with evidence! Evidence that I never denied existed, I just requested that it actually be presented.

Sorry to be so demanding of facts. I do realize how little they mean to some of you. And nice editing of the record to paint a conversation in a way that would make Andrew Breitbart proud. If you ever give up your current job, you should consider giving him a call.

+1. I still love my Macs and iPod, but Apple has been a huge letdown in the last year. It's just another gigantic corporation.

Apple is able to provide AFFORDABLE cool stuff because it IS a gigantic corporation. It's a success story. Their products keep getting better and cheaper. Ever since they started getting venture capital in the late 1970s, Apple was a big, multi-million dollar company. Now, because it hasn't lost its focus on the customer, it has become a multi-billion dollar corporation.

They are a publicly held company and must answer to their shareholders. People who love Apple products, yet hate large corporations make no sense. It is big corporations that bring us these things.

August 17, 2006 Cupertino, CA: In a surprise press release late this afternoon Apple Computer announced it's purchase of Lions Gate Films. Without delay, former President Steven Beeks was removed from his position placed in shackles, stripped to his boxer shorts and displayed prominently of the official "Apple Ridicule Platform" located conveniently in the parking lot at 1 Infinite Loop. Steve Jobs was unavailable for comment, but was seen laughing, choking down a small bowl of low calorie pescaterian chowder.

Sounds ok, but I'm getting more/more turned off by any MS products. I'll upgrade to SP1 for Word/Excel. I'll continue to use Mail and iCal for Exchange access. Entourage and Outlook 2011 are bloated, and buggy [IMO], and not worth the problems.

I don't know where you people live, but I hear all the time from people on here acting like At&t is SO HORRIBLE. I live in the midwest and I never have any problems with At&t...full service everywhere I go and rarely any dropped calls. I've had them all, Verizon (which completely blows), sprint, nextel etc.... At&t has the best service...

i live near the '4 dropped calls in one mile' zone that stewart is talking about..
i used to use sprint and never had dropped calls.. with att, it's a daily occurrence..

once i get out of the city, things improve.
