Yes Flash is pre-installed, you can disable it or get a plugin to use it when needed.
And am I wrong in thinking that if I download the standalone Flash installer, it runs system-wide? Does that mean when I'm using Safari (but not on pages that have Flash content), it still drains more battery? What about if I'm not even using Safariis it then somehow still taking up extra CPU cycles?

I have a pre HDMI Mini. Previously plugged and played with other LCD screens, hitachi and samsung, no problem.

But the new Bravia doesn't recognize the mini as a PC input.

I screen share my Mini from my PowerBook and the Sony tv IS picked up in the display settings with 1980x1080 res.

And you can trick the Bravia into recognizing the Mini by plugging in another machine first (I used a PowerBook), but once you choose to watch TV the PC input is lost, and you have to swap cords again. Frustrating and unacceptable!!

Has anyone had success with a mini DVI to HDMI female adaptor? (to avoid VGA). Or is the problem to do with the Mac Mini (e.g. Doesn't send HDCP compliant signals like PowerBook does)??

    TIA

    Matthew

What I do is use a Zip 100 drive. They can store about 100MB per disk and you can pick up the SCSI versions of the drives cheap. Getting the Zip disk driver onto the Mac Classic isn't too bad, you just need the right version for your System.

Then use a USB Zip Drive or a G3 or G4 tower (or other Mac) which has a Zip 100 drive built-in and copy the files. Thankfully a lot of the G3/G4 towers had these drives built in, or you can get an IDE one for a PowerMac. But a USB version is ideal for portability.

I have found this to be one of the easiest ways to copy files from older systems. If you have another legacy Mac you can always copy things via AppleTalk via a serial cable or a LocalTalk connection. It's slow but it works! Or if you have an Asante SCSI to Ethernet adapter you can try that, but that's a long shot. ;)

For more info you may want to look at the 68kmla.net forums, that place is filled with vintage Mac owners that know their stuff. Good luck! :D

..at work we currently have a 'dashboard' (on a 50" plasma) displaying several graphs running on Excel which are fed from numerous databases (oracle/SQL) and updated every five minutes (usually from a stored proc. call) - they do the job but look terrible.

So I'm looking at creating something a bit more pleasing to the eye but I'm struggling to decide what to do it in - currently my two best options appear be Silverlight or HTML/CSS using jQuery visualizer plugin.

The HTML/jQuery option looks easier to do, but looks pretty basic. Silverlight looks like it has great potential but it would appear to get the best results I would have to purchase some external software (something like visifire). Purchasing something isn't totally out of question, but I'd much prefer to code something from scratch or have some free plugins. I'm not particularly well versed in either, and I'm using this as a training exercise for myself...just though I better add that...

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated

Also..I've found things like this http://cesso.org/Samples/ChartBuilder/ which seems like a good base to start on...

If you have access to an 8GB USB flash memory thumb drive, clone the content of the first Restore DVD for your MBP via CarbonCopyCloner (http://www.bombich.com) to that USB flash memory thumb drive and use the drive to reinstall Mac OS X from.

Follow the steps below to format the USB flash memory thumb drive correctly.

You forgot rubber band guns ;)

And nerf guns can be awesome, especially if you take them apart and replace the spring with a slightly more hardcore version... makes for some awesome nerf wars.

Hey, my family bought an Infiniti G20 (1999) and it hasn't been the best car. This is a thread about your good, or bad experiences with Infinitis:

    Heres Mine:

brakes... major probablems with the brakes... been replaced a few time and they have been squeeking like crazy. We've taken it to a Japanesse auto place like 3 times. another repair shop. 2 times, and we just took it to the dealer and seems to have helped (for now!)

Engine... Last year my brother "threw-a-rod" and we had to replace the entire engine. It was going to cost $7-8,000 but we bought a refurbished engine of the web. ($4000)

These are the 2 major problems, but that doesnt includce many other problems. We're looking at buying a new car, but we arent sure which car to get. We like the look of the G35... but with our experience with the G20, it seems like we should look at other cars... any suggestions???

Are you sure that program works with a non-Intel Mac? I keep getting Java errors, telling me I need a new version.

    Thanks for the help.

There's a kind of strange relationship between the directory structure on the boot HD and what Finder shows you, that hides some of the Unix directories. Also, you may not have an /opt directory -- I don't. Do this:

    Open Terminal
    Type:
    cd /
    ls

If you see an entry "opt," you can type "open opt" which will open opt in a new Finder window, even though it isn't normally visible.

If you do not, make one:

    mkdir opt

Again, you can use "open opt" to get to this in finder, or you can continue to make the directories with mkdir, and you can use cp to copy the files.

I'm guessing you are interested in Photoshop skills/tutorials:

www.good-tutorials.com is a large database of tutorials.

It has tutorials on other programs as well, it used to be a Photoshop only tutorial website, but now has expanded to a wide array of great programs that are essential for graphic designers.

About to purchase a Mac Mini 2.4ghz C2D (late 2010 model, barely used)
    with OS X 10.6.x.

    Have a MacBook Pro 2.16ghz C2D (2006 model) with OS X 10.5.8. It's
got a video card issue (a recall)...and slowly starting to get worse
it seems, especially during heavy Photoshop use. Doing Carbon Copy
Cloner daily backups, but need to get my main workhorse retired to non
daily essential duties, and the Mac Mini will fit the bill fine (have
    several 1.83 ghz units).

What's the best way (not necessarily the easiest/fastest) to make the
Mac Mini be equal to the MacBook Pro?

I'm guessing that it will be Migration Assistant (but never used
this)? Or would it be Carbon Copy Cloner (but then there's the issue
of the different OS's---don't know if the 2.4ghz Mini will use 10.5,
maybe it requires 10.6)? Or would it be just re-install all the apps
on the fresh 10.6 install on the Mini (a pain, but could do)?

Anyone with some experience and insight into a successful process?

Give me a few minutes, the headline let me to believe that you had already decided. Now I find out that it is a thread about which inexpensive card you should get. I am so confused.

    Which one are you favoring?
